According to a post on Google Workspace updates, if it identifies a file to be violating the company’s terms of service or program policies, it will restrict the file. Google is now getting tough with such users. Not just this, it is used by some to store things like hate speech, sexually explicit material and violence and other things banned under the company's terms and conditions.
Google on its part had been working hard to stop spam and other malware from seeping in through these files. However, like all other tech tools Google Drive too is used at times by cybercriminals and spammers. It allows users to utilise Google’s cloud for storing files, sharing files and syncing them across devices. Google Drive is one of the most popular file storage and sharing services.
